Maddie Lately (13 Months Old)…

Our cute little lady just turned 13 months old this week and it truly snuck up on me. I know it’s only been a month since her first birthday and her next milestone isn’t really until 18 months but it’s amazing what a difference a month can make!

Yesterday as she was playing at the Marbles Museum I could see how confident she has become with walking. She also did not hesitate to leave me behind as she ran off to another play station.  She wasn’t afraid to climb on things and toss things around and had a good time “talking” to other little toddlers when they passed her way!

Independent
Feeding herself, working with her spoon, coloring with crayons, getting on and off the couch, leading me where she wants to go, “reading” books on her own, playing by herself, putting her shirts and shoes on and off! And…

Busy
Running off to the kitchen; playing withTupperware, pots and pans; singing and dancing; following me around, climbing the steps! And…

Curious
Finding things under the couch, picking up things off the floor (that I can’t even see), staring at the steps and always sitting on the first one (my husband is to blame), opening and closing every door, putting on hats, peeking around something to see what I’m doing, touching and tasting everything!!!!

It’s so neat to see how she has grown and how smart she is already.  Up to this point I’ve really just let her have fun and have allowed her motor skills to develop naturally by introducing different toys that help build certain skills.  But now, I can tell she’s ready for me to incorporate a bit more structured learning activities so I’ll keep you posted on the things we’re doing and how she handles them!
