When I first started blogging I didn’t have a clue and I still don’t most days but I carry on anyway :)! Here are just three simple things I wish I would have known when I started blogging…
ONE – No comparisons allowed (Galations 6:4)!
In the beginning I spent way too much time comparing my beginning to other blogger’s middle and it caused me to be too hard and demanding on myself. If I wanted to build something worth reading then I would have to take the time to find my voice, my niche and work at it constantly. Then eventually, over time, my blog would grow to where I wanted it to be.
The keyword here is time! I still have a long way to go and comparing myself to anyone else at their point in time in their journey isn’t going to get me any closer to obtaining my goals!

TWO – Focus on organic growth!
I’m still working on this and probably will for as long as I blog! I believe in sponsoring other blogs, hosting and participating in giveaways, linking up, etc. Without those things it would be hard to bring awareness to your blog since, as we all know, people don’t just magically stumble upon your blog (at least not very often :))!
But although those things make people aware of your blog and perhaps boost your numbers it doesn’t necessarily translate to actual readers. That’s something that has to be built organically through great, consistent content. I want people to interact with me and each other via this blog through comments and email. I want to work together with different bloggers, that I may never get a chance to meet in person but get to know so well through this platform, and share ideas that have the potential to make an impact on someone’s life!
I obviously have such high hopes for this space so I have to build it up in the right way if I want my goals to come to fruition!
THREE – Try new things here and there, but FOCUS!
I was all over the place when I first got started and honestly I don’t think there is any way around that. When you first start blogging there is so much to take in, learn and understand. Blogging is like a little world in itself and there are so many paths to explore and things that you can do with your blog.
I felt like I was always changing things up and trying to be a part of this thing and that crowd because I didn’t know any better. I’m still learning in this area but I recognize that I have to focus on my blog and what I’m trying to accomplish here, and make sure that everything I decide to do and get involved in is aligned with my goals!
So I guess at the end of the day it’s all about setting goals for your blog and figuring out what you need to do to achieve them! This has definitely put me in the mood to come up with a mission statement for my blog! So stay tuned…

Topic – Three Things I wish I would have known when I started blogging:
Just be you. As much hate as I'm getting here lately esp yesterday you'd think I'd give up and quit blogging all together. I'm gonna start sharing less for a while and blog more videos and quotes about God so that maybe I can change this person for the better some how and some way. They'll realize that what they're doing isnt phasing me. and it's just making me stronger.
I've been blogging for over a year now, and I'm still learning.lol It can be overwhelming with all of the information out there, but I'm trying to stay focused on what I want to do; not what others' are doing. It's hard not to compare your blog to others, but like musicians and artist, we all offer something unique!Great post! I love the purple around here!
I love the idea of just being you. It's so important in life and in blogging. Keep going!! You're doing great!
I've nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award!

These are great. I love the organic readers point you made. I'm still VERY new to blogging although I've actually had my blog for years and I hope to create a space where genuine people actually like the content I write. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I always appreciate them and your tutorials!
Can't wait for your mission statement! I've been working on something similar but haven't nailed it down just yet 🙂
I agree with not comparing yourself to other bloggers! It's like comparing your child to another, they all develop and grow differently. Always blog for yourself!
Thanks for linking up Nicole! I really like your 1st one, I still find myself comparing and it only brings the negative, awesome post!
