Hey, hey, hey!! Before I go on a much-needed health kick/Beyonce diet, I figured I’d share a yummy recipe with you all. If you’re in the know, then you’ve heard all the buzz about Beyonce’s Homecoming documentary on Netflix and the infamous diet she went on for eight months in preparation for her performance at #Beychella. Sis’ didn’t eat any dairy, carbs, alcohol, meat/fish or sugar during the rehearsal, periodt!, and she was snatched by the time of the performance. We all know it works, but no. I highly commend her discipline though! Not just in her diet, but in her work ethic — as a Black woman and a mother. The film and the representation she showcased for the culture was incredible to see and it was so incredibly inspiring. But enough with my ramblings about my love for the queen. Let’s talk about me a bit, shall we?!
Ingredients:
1 Cup milk, warm
2 Eggs
1 Stick of butter, melted
1 Package dry yeast
4 Cups flour
⅓ Cup sugar
Directions:
- In a bowl combine the warm milk with the yeast. Let sit until foamy.
- In another bowl beat the butter with the eggs. Add the sugar and continue beating until everything is well incorporated. Add the milk mixture.
- Add half of the flour and mix in.
- Take to a floured surface and add the rest of the flour. Knead while incorporating the flour.
- Knead for 5 minutes or until smooth. Take to a bowl and let it rise, covered, for 1 hour.
- Take to a floured surface and roll until ½ inch thick. Cut small circles and let them rise again for 1 hour.
- Heat oil in a pot. Add the doughnut bites and fry them, a few at a time.
- Remove from the oil, tap lightly with a paper towel and cover them in powdered sugar.
